What drove the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville? Maria Armoudian talks to Siva Vaidhyanathan, a professor of media studies at the University of Virginia, where part of the protest took place. Vaidhyanathan and his colleagues were aware of the impending ‘Summer of Hate’ in Charlottesville and had discussed at length how to respond. He talks here about his experience and what he learned from the protests.
